**Hymn       Come In, Come In And Sit Down       395

Refrain
Come in, come in and sit down,
you are a part of the family.
We are lost and we are found,
and we are a part of the family.

  1. You know the reason why you came,
    yet no reason can explain;
    so share in the laughter and cry in the pain,
    for we are a part of the family. R

  2. God is with us in this place,
    like a mother's warm embrace.
    We're all forgiven by God's grace,
    for we are a part of the family. R

  3. There's life to be shared in the bread and the wine;
    we are the branches, Christ is the vine.
    This is God's temple, it's not yours or mine,
    but we are a part of the family. R

  4. There's rest for the weary and health for us all;
    there's a yoke that is easy, and a burden that's small.
    So come in and worship and answer the call,
    for we are a part of the family. R

**Hymn       Give To Us Laughter       624

  1. Give to us laughter, O Source of our life.
    Laughter can banish so much of our strife.
    Laughter and love give us wholeness and health.
    Laughter and love are the coin of true wealth.

  2. Give to us laughter as sign of deep joy;
    let us in laughing find Christian employ,
    joining with stars and with bright northern lights,
    laughing and praising and sharing delights.

  3. Why do we worry that we will lose face?
    Why act like king for the whole human race?
    Often in family, and often with friend,
    laughing at pride causes anguish to end.

  4. Even in sorrow and hours of grief,
    laughter with tears brings most healing relief.
    God, give us laughter, and God, give us peace,
    joys of your presence among us increase.

The Word

Prayer of Illumination

Eternal God, in the reading of the Scripture, may your Word be heard; in the meditations of our hearts, may your Word be known; and in the faithfulness of our lives, may your Word be shown. Amen.

    Old Testament Reading       Genesis 28. 10 19a

   The Word of the Lord.     Thanks be to God

    Responsive Reading       Psalm 139. 1-1,23-24

Refrain: O God, you have searched, you known me through and through.

O God, you have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.

You discern my path and the places I rest; you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue,

you know it, O God, completely.

You guard me from behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
It is beyond my knowledge; it is a mystery;

I cannot fathom it.    R

Refrain: O God, you have searched, you known me through and through.

Where can I escape from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

If I ascend to heaven, you are there;
if I lie down in the grave, you are even there.

If I take wing with the dawn and alight at the sea's farthest limits,

there also your hand will be guiding me
your powerful hand holding me fast.

If I say, 'Let the darkness cover me
and my day be turned to night,'

even darkness is not dark to you:
the night is as bright as the day,
for darkness is as light to you.    R

Refrain: O God, you have searched, you known me through and through.

It was you who formed my inward parts; you fashioned me in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made.
Wondrous are your works; that I know very well.

My frame was not hidden from you
when I was being fashioned in secret,
intricately woven in the mystery of clay.

Your eyes saw my substance taking shape;
in your book my every day was recorded;
all my days were fashioned,
even before they came to be.    R

How deep your designs are to me, O God!
How great their number!

I try to count them but they are more than the sand.
I come to the end - I am still with you.

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

test me and know my thoughts.

Watch closely, lest I follow a path of error

and guide me in the everlasting way. R

Refrain: O God, you have searched, you known me through and through.

Hymn       For the Healing of the Nations       678

  1. For the healing of the nations,
    God, we pray with one accord;
    for a just and equal sharing
    of the things that earth affords.
    To a life of love in action
    help us rise and pledge our word.

  2. You, Creator-God, have written
    your great name on humankind;
    for our growing in your likeness
    bring the life of Christ to mind;
    that, by our response and service,
    earth its destiny may find.

Meditation

** Affirmation of Faith

We are not alone,
we live in God´s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God´s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.

Prayers of Intercession
Lord´s Prayer

**Hymn      Forth in Your Name       416

  1. Forth in your name, O Christ, we go,
    our daily labour to pursue,
    you, only you, resolved to know
    in all we think, or speak, or do.

  2. Then with delight may we employ
    all that your bounteous grace has given,
    and run our earthly course with joy,
    and closely walk with you to heaven.

** The Blessing

** 3 Fold Amen.
